The vongole is related to the clams. Also called the striped clams. We know it mainly from the Mediterranean (especially from Italy), but it is also found in the Atlantic Ocean. The taste is salty and sweet and they grow to about 2 to 3 centimeters. Most often they are used for spaghetti vongole. But they are also delicious in a fruit de mer.
